The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality, the Dutch ambassador to China, the Dutch consul in Chongqing, and the Shaanxi Department of Agriculture organized a symposium for "the acceleration of modernization in Chinese agriculture and horticulture & the establishment of large-scale cooperative systems with The Netherlands". The symposium was opened on April 10th, 2018, in Xi'an and was hosted by Mr. Martin Olde Monnikhof, the Dutch agricultural representative in China. Ms. Carola Schouten, the Dutch vice-premier and minister of the Dutch Ministry for Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality, as well as Mr. Lu Zhiyuan, the vice-governor of Shaanxi Province, gave the welcome and farewell speeches.

Mr. Wang Tao, vice-commissioner of the Shaanxi Department of Agriculture, explained the development of agricultural modernization in Shaanxi and the relevant policy decisions in front of a large crowd. Scientists, entrepreneurs, and industry representatives from The Netherlands gave presentations during the symposium. Mr. Chen Yongchun, board chair of Beijing Fu Rui Tong Science and Technology Co., Ltd. accepted an invitation and was one of the guests of honor who represented Chinese entrepreneurs. He delivered a keynote speech titled "Strengthening Sino-Dutch cooperation in agricultural technology, and accelerating the upgrade of China's fruit industry".
