Fruit prices in the north likely to increase as result of frost

There was an unexpected frost in Shaanxi, Ningxia, and Shanxi on the night of April 6th. The frost harmed apples, pears, peaches, cherries, Chinese hawthorn, walnuts, and grapes.


Frostbitten apricots

There was frost throughout Shaanxi and temperatures dropped as low as minus five degrees Celsius in Chengxian, Pucheng, Qianyang, Liquan, and Jingchuan. The frost was severe and the damage rate of Baishui apples was 100%. The damage rate of flowers was 91%. The damage rate in Luochuan was nearly 100%. The damage was relatively heavy in the north and in central areas.

Almost the entire walnut crop of Huanglong County failed. 50% of the apple production suffered damage. The damage in Yuncheng, Shanxi was relatively severe. Almost the entire crop of walnuts, persimmons, and cherries north of Linjin failed because of frostbite.
