New Kiwi ally for the Colombian horticultural sector

Several organizations in New Zealand have arrived in Colombia with their technological advances to improve productivity and optimize the economy of agricultural properties. One of them, which is becoming more prestigious by the day, is Compac Sorting Equipment.

This multinational, which offers integrated post-harvest solutions and services for the fresh produce industry, is a worldwide leader in fruit classification and provides key solutions for the development of its customers, allowing them to correctly classify the fruit produced in the field.

The agreement with Agrosermaq is important for the sector
Compac Sorting Equipment, through its strategic partner in Latin America SIENZ, signed an agreement with Agrosermaq, an engineering company from Antioquia that focuses on the design and manufacture of post-harvest machinery for the Colombian agricultural industry.

This alliance will allow Colombian companies to have access to the best New Zealand solutions for the selection of fruit and vegetables, and to have a local service of more than 15 people.

According to Jacinto Trigo, the regional director of Compac, the solutions that the company will market are supported by three pillars: cutting-edge technologies, intelligent line designs, and world-class after-sales service.

"These solutions allow agricultural producers to get the maximum benefit from the fruit, by classifying each fruit based on their external and internal quality characteristics and placing them in the right box. The consistency in classification helps our clients build their brands," Trigo added.

In turn, Sebastian Londoño, the manager of Agrosermaq, which is responsible for designing and manufacturing selection lines in the domestic market, including hass avocado exporters, such as Pacific Fruits, Tropy Fruits and GreenWest, said that partnering with Compac and SIENZ would bring great benefits to the Colombian horticultural sector.

"The solutions provided by Compac, SIENZ, and Agrosermaq are instrumental for the Colombian producers because they will not only have access to equipment that processes the fruit from its reception, but also automatic palletizing systems that can be integrated into their traceability systems," said Londono.

Manuel Gonzalez, the general manager of SIENZ in Latin America, said that this commercial agreement would improve the quality of the service and customer service.

"In addition to the Compac selection solutions, this alliance will provide the know-how in the development of solutions in fruit and vegetable selection lines, and excellent knowledge of the market and established local presence," Gonzalez said.

Colombia has a promising future as an agro-industrial power in the world thanks to the joint work between producers, exporters, and government entities. This joint work, and the support and service of globally recognized companies such as Compac, will allow more agricultural products to access new international markets.
