China: Dongguan likely to produce record volume of lychees

This is the season when lychee flowers bloom. The flowers are numerous this year because weather conditions are excellent. There are fruit farmers who estimate that they will produce 60% more lychee this year than last year. They even suspect that this year will have the largest production volume in history. The lychee trees were 'impregnated' last year in November and December. The development of lychee requires a cold period, and the weather in November and December last year was rather cold. This boosted the development of lychee flowers. This year in March, when the flowers blossomed, the weather became relatively warm and there has been relatively little rain. All these conditions increase the lychee flower rate.
