Tancitaro, municipality of Michoacan

Guinness record for the world's biggest guacamole

Tancitaro, which has a little more than 30 thousand hectares, is a world leader in the production of avocado; a leadership it wanted to demonstrate by making the largest guacamole in the world. It weighed a total of 3,788 kilograms, breaking the world record that was held by the municipality of Buenos Aires de ConcepciĆ³n, in Jalisco, which had produced a guacamole of 2,900 kilograms.

The process of obtaining this record was at all times controlled by a local notary who ensured that the Guinness Record standards were followed and, at 1:50 pm, officially certified that Tancitaro had surpassed the 2,900 kilo record. By 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the 3,788 kilos guacamole that hundreds of attendees would taste was ready.

The event took place during the 2018 Expo Tancitaro Fair. Nearly 500 people on 7 production lines, participated in the creation of this guacamole.

The participants, mostly volunteers, took a little more than 5 hours to achieve their goal. They had the support of some chefs from Uruapan, who were in charge of streamlining the production lines and ensuring that people used the correct amount of ingredients to guarantee the optimum quality and excellent flavor of this Mexican recipe.
