"We have enough capacity to complete our scheduled programs"

Spain: Moyca loses one of its warehouses in a fire

On Friday night, a fire broke out in one of the four warehouses of the Murcian company Moyca, specifically in number 2, located next to the A-7 motorway, in the El Saladar Industrial Estate of Totana. The fire was eventually extinguished on Saturday at noon. The cause is still unknown.

With around 50 million kilos per year, Moyca is the largest producer and marketer of seedless grapes in Spain. "Fortunately, we have not had any personal losses, since it happened at night and in the off-season," says Josefina Mena, commercial director of the company.

Despite the seriousness of the damage, the company still has three warehouses for the handling, packaging and storage of grapes, with enough capacity to deliver the volumes planned for the next campaign, which will start in mid-June.

"The truth is that we were 'oversized' in terms of packaging capacity, because we always plan our growth with a margin of several years ahead in order to always have enough space, so despite the loss of warehouse number 2, we have sufficient infrastructure in the other 3 warehouses and enough time to set it all up."

"We have the resources and the capacity to complete all supply programs previously agreed with distribution chains around the world. We have also spoken with our main clients, who have expressed their full confidence in us," says Josefina Mena.
