10 percent increase in sales for Lidl Austria

In the 2017/2018 financial year, Lidl Austria's sales again increased by almost 10 percent to a total of EUR 1.3 billion - a new record. What was decisive for this result, in addition to expansion, is growth on existing spaces.

Lidl Austria pursues very clear goals: the best
Price-performance ratio and even more domestic quality in the range. Almost 50 percent of all food sold comes from Austria. That's over 350 million Austrian products. "It was again a great year for us. With EUR 1.3 billion, we have again seen growth, we have opened more stores than planned and further expanded our Austrian product range. We can be really satisfied with this achievement and our development. Our Superdiskont format is well received," says Christian Schug (photo right), Chairman of the Executive Board.

Adding value to the country
The domestic economy will also benefit from this encouraging development - from agricultural producers to suppliers and forwarding companies, to construction companies. Thanks to the cooperation with Lidl, Austrian companies once again generated sales of around 650 million euros last year, of which 200 million euros were due to exports to other Lidl countries alone. "This will strengthen the local food industry and the Austrian economy. Especially with our own Austrian brands, we rely on long-term partnerships with our suppliers and fair cooperation. Success proves us right,"says Christian Schug.
