Russia inspects more Turkish exporters

Russia could possibly expand its list of Turkish tomato exporters with access to Russia, according to the Russian phytosanitary service on 3 April.

“Rosselkhoznadzor (the Russian phytosanitary service) has suggested to the Turkish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock to have a discussion about an extended list of companies that can export tomatoes to Russia,” according to the organisation. Russia has sent a delegation to inspect companies in Turkey.

Russia lifted the ban on Turkish fruit and vegetables in November 2017, but implemented a quota for tomatoes. Turkey responded furiously to the protracted import restrictions. “We are absolutely opposed to limiting the number of companies. If necessary, we can do the same,” said Turkish Minister Zeybecki last month.
