24 tons of tangerines were intercepted at the port of Novorosiysk, Russia. The batch of tangerines arrived from Egypt. Before the produce reaches the retailers, every fruit is examined by a representative of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.
The results of the laboratory test have confirmed that the batch was infected with pests. All 24 tons of tangerines arrived with the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata).
After examination, the fruit was sent back home to Egypt.
