Eric Roy consults the market:

"Avoid off-season products"

Eric Roy has been active in the fruit and vegetable sector for a few decades. He led the Charraire Group, a supplier of fruit and vegetables, and for 17 years he developed the Vergers Saint Eustache; a gourmet fruit and vegetable company. Now, Eric is creating a consulting company to advise agricultural business groups.

Eric advocates several things for the French market. "The French market must continue to seek a good balance between quantity and quality. The market must also continue to go towards sustainable agriculture and organic production: this is absolutely necessary for our health, as well as the well-being of our planet. In addition, products grown in a responsible manner are far more full of taste."

Eric confirms that the French love domestic products in particular: "They want to make sure the products were grown in a responsible way, or at least controlled in a certain way. In general, French producers pay close attention to the way things are produced. They respect environmental and sanitary standards, like many other European countries."

According to Eric, as far as apples are concerned, competition from Poland is not yet considered to be severe. "French producers rather tend to be in the niche markets. But it’s obvious that all these countries have very beautiful products."

A very important thing to mention, according to Eric, is that the products are good when they are in full swing. "We must avoid the consumption of off-season products as much as possible, and keep pace with nature. “

"Currently, asparagus is very popular in France for Easter. After Easter, a real festival will begin: Nature will awaken, and we will enter the season of fruits of spring and summer, such as stone fruits."
