Fruit and vegetables fill Carrefour's online lists

Contrary to expectations, it is not just bulky items that sell well online. This is evident in Carrefour.eu's most-ordered articles over the last ten months:

· Water 'Cristaline' 50 cl
· Kiwis
· Cucumbers
· Bulk bananas
· Ready-to-eat avocados
· Courgettes
· Water Carrefour 6 x 2 l
· Tissues (150 pieces)
· Broccoli
· Tomatoes (in a shaker)

Clients can order online then either collect the order at the Drive, various pick-up points in Belgium or have it delivered at home. Currently, Carrefour has 190 pick-up points and plans to increase this to 250 by the end of the year.

When all their stores are taken into account, Carrefour Belgium offers 19 000 food-related items online at the moment. Not only are their products comparable to the shop where their clients collect their orders, Carrefour's prices are too. Sales are up by 27% compared to January 2017. The ratio between the regular assortment and the seasonal one is 94 % - 6 %. The expansion of this company's range is mainly focused on fresh products.

46% larger range in Webshop
Carrefour launched the Webshop, their non-food website, in May 2017. Then, the chain offered 15,000 related products. Now, less than a year later, the Webshop has 22,000 products. This is an increase of more than 46%. Here the ratio is slightly different: seasonal items are somewhat more important (15 %) with regular items representing 85% of the assortment.
