“With our Mexican pineapples we have a slight advantage over the Costa Rican supply in the United States market. We are closer to market, so we are able to harvest at a later stage which allows the fruit to get maximum color and sweetness. Once cut, we can deliver the pineapple basically anywhere in North America in under four days so customers can be sure they are receiving the freshest pineapple possible. Costa Rica obviously supplies the vast majority of pineapples in the US but we are growing our piece of the market nicely.”“The maradol papaya was our only product when we started and it has definitely been the base of our business all along. Building off of that base, we have expanded our assortment to include pineapples, limes and bell peppers. Our main variety of papaya is Maradol, which has a bright yellow skin and juicy red flesh inside. This variety is well known by the Latin population within the US market and the demand is growing at a stable pace. The season is going very well, as quality and volumes are good for now.”
