Honduras produces more than two million pounds of Hass avocado a year, said Antonio Rivera, a representative of this Product Chain in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG).
He also said that they were working with SAG authorities to socialize the National Hass Avocado Plan throughout the country.
One of the priorities for national producers is the development of new farms and a follow up on those that are in the productive process.
The National Hass Avocado Plan for the next four years is to cultivate at least four thousand hectares of Hass avocados, Romero said.
"Until November last year, Honduras produced more than two million pounds of Hass avocado, but now the country has more than 850 hectares devoted to this product."
"In addition, the SAG signed an agreement with the embassy of China-Taiwan to strengthen the nurseries that will serve to supply seedlings to producers so that they can plant them on their farms," said Rivera.
