"Chinese garlic still the overseas market leader"
"The export price of garlic has shown a sharp growth in 2015-2016. It started to fall, however, from the beginning of 2016, and it kept falling until it reached a reasonable level. The export price of garlic was clearly at a low point in the last year in comparison with previous years, but the low price also encouraged an increase in export volume. As a result, the overall export value has increased in comparison with previous years." This is according to Mr. Xu Sheng, president of Shandong Yuesheng Fruit and Vegetables Co., Ltd.

"There are multiple reasons behind the heavy fluctuation of garlic prices. This includes the relation between supply and demand, as well as speculative behavior. Apart from this, the high price of garlic in recent years has caused many farmers in nearby countries to expand their garlic plantations or switch from other products to garlic production. The overall supply of garlic on the market has therefore increased significantly. This certainly influenced the export volume of Chinese garlic, but in the end the influence was limited."

"This company manages many kinds of agricultural by-products such as ginger, garlic, potatoes, and onions. These products are shipped out through Qingdao port under our own registered brand 'Mr. Wu'. About 80%-90% of our export is destined for Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern countries. A small volume ends up in Brazil, Europe, and the USA. In the future, we will focus our attention on the export of garlic and ginger to markets in Europe and the USA."
Export ginger
"Chinese garlic and ginger have occupied leading positions in overseas markets for years because of the specific characteristics of these products. Only China and a handful of other countries have the natural conditions to produce high-quality garlic and ginger. The price of Chinese garlic is lower than the export from the USA, Iran, or Argentine. The product quality is also higher. It is because of these conditions that the international market position of Chinese garlic is this strong."
