Peru to ship citrus to the Dominican Republic this month and to Japan in April

The National Service of Agrarian Health (Senasa) reported that, thanks to the joint work of the public and private sector, Peruvian citrus fruit would enter the Dominican Republic this month and Japan in April.

"We will sign an agreement with the Dominican Republic for Peruvian citrus fruits by the end of this month. This destination may seem small, but it is equally important for agro-exporters," stated the head of Senasa, Jorge Barrenechea.

He also said that the mandarin and the tangelo were some of the most demanded Peruvian citrus fruits abroad, especially in Asian countries.

"In April, our citrus fruits, especially the mandarin, will have access to Japan. This is a clear example of the joint work being done by the private sector, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, and PromPeru," he said.

Foreign Trade Single Window
Barrenechea also said that they were still working on issues, such as the Law to Strengthen Senasa and the Foreign Trade Single Window (VUCE), which will provide greater facilities and improve processes in favor of agricultural exporters.

It's important that the country continues opening markets, he said, each country has a different regulation and Peru must adapt to those commercial requirements. Now the country is focused on the Asian market and its requirements.

Barrenechea gave these statements during the presentation of the XIX Agricultural Exporter Lunch, which will be held on March 20.
