Seipasa presents a new Seican biopesticide in the USA

Seipasa, a company specializing in the research, development and manufacture of natural treatments for agriculture, presented Seican in the USA within the framework of the BioControls USA West Conference, an event that showcases the latest trends and developments related to the biological control of crops.

Seican is a new fungicide, insecticide, and acaricide for the control of pests and diseases. It was developed from a novel formulation based on substances of botanical origin. Seican provides a powerful shock effect against a large number of powdery mildew, botrytis, insects, and mites.

Jose Angel Talavera, the commercial director of Seipasa, stated in a presentation that one of the main advantages of Seican was its triple action (fungicide, insecticide and acaricide). "Seican exerts a healing action that prevents the spread of fungi. It is a fungicide that interrupts sporulation and causes dehydration of the fungus, so that the visible symptoms quickly disappear from the leaves."

Talavera said Seican was an effective alternative to chemical acaricides thanks to the product's ability of penetrating the body of insects and mites to dehydrate them and kill them. "The product is very efficient against all targets. In addition, thanks to its multiple action mode, Seican does not generate resistance. It is an ideal product to be included in integrated pest control strategies," said the commercial director of Seipasa.

Seican is OMRI certified for use in organic production systems. The phytosanitary registry for the US market will be available in the coming months.

Fungisei was also a protagonist in the BioControls USA West Conference. Seipasa's biological fungicide, which was recently awarded the Most Innovative Formulation at the 2017 Agrow Awards ceremony, has phytosanitary registry in the USA and Peru. Soon, Fungisei will also be available in Mexico and Morocco.

Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA)
Prior to the celebration of the BioControls USA West Conference, Seipasa participated in the annual meeting of the BPIA, the body that brings together the main producers of bio-pesticides in the world and which Seipasa joined in 2010. Juan Manuel Lopez, the marketing director of the company, spoke about the impact of regulatory activity on the development of the bio-pesticides market.

Lopez described the extensive experience that Seipasa has had in the registration of phytosanitary products over the past 15 years and underlined the high investment, in terms of time and money, needed to launch solutions registered to the market.

Lopez emphasised the difficulties that the companies have had because of the phytosanitary registry, which in his opinion, slows the generation of new solutions for farmers. Finally, the marketing director of Seipasa insisted on the need to harmonize requirements and international regulations for these kinds of processes.
