Peru exports its first white potatoes to Brazil
The Government has stated that it has successfully promoted the first sale of white potatoes of the Yungay variety to the foreign market, as the country will export a first batch of 20 tons of this variety to Brazil, which will benefit the producers of Junin, Huanuco, Ayacucho, and Huancavelica.
This product will be marketed by Araujo Supermercados, an important Brazilian chain that owns stores in Rio Branco (Acre) and Porto Velho (Rondonia), among other regions of the neighboring country.
The first shipment will benefit producers in the regions of Junin, Huanuco, Ayacucho, and Huancavelica, and it is a first step to opening new markets for this important ancestral food of national origin.
The product will be shipped to Brazil thanks to the actions carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri), the Commercial Office of Peru in Sao Paulo (OCEX Sao Paulo), and Sierra and Selva Exportadora.
