Peru will be the guest of honor in the next Biofach

The Commission for the Promotion of Peru in Exports and Tourism, Promperu, stated that Peru would be the guest of honor in the next edition of Biofach, the world's most important organic products fair, which will be held from February 13 to the 16, 2019 in Nuremberg, Germany.

"It is a great honor and a great opportunity to show that we are an excellent supplier of organic and functional products in an international showcase. It will allow us to promote the Super Foods Peru sector brand, a strategy that goes hand in hand with the global trend of having a healthy life. It will be a new challenge for the sector and business associations, along with other Peruvian public institutions, will join efforts to enhance the image of our country," said Luis Torres Paz, Promperu's Export Promotion Director.

The Peruvian delegation that participated in Biofach 2018 was composed of 117 exporters, who had 445 appointments with current clients and made more than 1,200 new contacts.

The most demanded Peruvian superfoods were quinoa, maca, chestnuts and cocoa products; which were showcased along with other products, such as sacha inchi oil, avocado oil, and Brazil nut oil. The delegation also showcased, chia, canihua, amaranth, lucuma, kion, avocado, banana, granadilla, granulated panela, maca, yacon, aguaymanto, carob, and camu camu.

Some of the products that were presented for the first time at this fair were the Haden mango, the huanarpo macho, chocolate covered with camu camu, and ready to eat quinoa mixes.

In its 2018 version, the fair attracted 3,218 exhibitors from 93 countries, and generated 50,000 visits from professionals from 134 countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, and Promperu, with the support of the Commercial Office of Peru Abroad (OCEX) of Hamburg, and the Embassy of Peru in Germany were in charge of the Peruvian participation.
