Baby leaf grower partners with nonprofit for cancer relief

B&W Quality Growers, a grower, packer and shipper of distinctive baby leaves, is excited to announce a new partnership with Family Reach, a national nonprofit alleviating the financial burden of cancer. Throughout 2018, B&W retail bags of watercress, arugula and its new power 4™ blend will include a special Family Reach sticker. A donation will be made to Family Reach for every bag sold, helping them support more families fighting cancer.

“We believe we have a duty as a global organization to make a difference where we can,” says Mark DeLeo, CEO of B&W Quality Growers. “Family Reach’s mission is to provide families fighting cancer with basic human needs like nutritious food and home security resonated with us. We’re a family-centric organization that believes in giving back, and striving to not only do well corporately, but do the right thing socially.”

The likelihood of bankruptcy increases dramatically for families with a member battling cancer. From paying bills to putting food on the table, financial hardship is a common challenge on top of the cancer fight. Family Reach provides comprehensive financial support to families so that they don’t have to choose between treatment or food.

“We see many families lose their income because of a cancer diagnosis,” says Carla Tardif, CEO of Family Reach. “They wonder how they will buy groceries or pay the mortgage. This drastically affects a patient’s chances of beating cancer. We are so grateful to B&W for joining us in putting an end to this national crisis.”

Funding from B&W will ensure families fighting cancer have the resources they need to keep a roof over their heads, put food on the table and maintain safe transportation to and from treatment. Access to these everyday human needs is an essential part of cancer care and gives patients a fair shot at overcoming their diagnosis.
