Quebec : Over 700 people fall ill from Chinese raspberry consumption

Public health authorities in Quebec have confirmed that at least 724 people were ill after consuming food containing raspberries from China. The products consumed were prepared using frozen raspberries from China and included puddings, coulis and yogurts. Symptoms included nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, muscular pains, fatigue, fever, chills and headaches 24-48 hours after consumption. Last summer, many cases of norovirus linked to raspberry mousse cakes were reported and similar products were recalled. Overall, 11 recalls of 17 batches from three importers using the same Chinese supplier were made. The supplier, consequently, was "being watched" by the federal government.
