10,000 Moroccan women to harvest Spanish strawberries

About 13,000 Moroccan women from rural areas having been queuing up in Oujda, Agadir, Meknès, Marrakech and Mechra Belksiri for seasonal work in Huelva, South Spain. Their job will be to harvest strawberries over a five month period. The women must be married and have children under the age of 14. 13,000 applications have been accepted and 10,914 will make the final selection. A 6 and a half hour day is paid €40. Once their applications are accepted the women will get a bus to Tangier, then a ferry to Spain. They will return to Morocco in July at the end of the red fruit season.
