China: 160 tons of early spring vegetables from Panzhihua sold to Russia

Panzhihua sent out the first shipment of early spring vegetables to Russia on the afternoon of February 8th. The shipment consisted of 15 containers of vegetables, weighing more than 160 tons, with tomatoes as the main export product among them. The shipment was transported along the "Chengdu-Europe Express Railway" and traveled more than 9,000 km in 12 days before it arrived at the terminal station in Moscow.

After the shipment arrived in Moscow, the famous agricultural import and export and retail company, Morten Logistic LLC, brought the products to Moscow supermarkets like Auchan and OK.

Panzhihua has already become a production area with "five great specialties": early spring vegetables, characteristic fruit, animal and aquatic products, high-quality tobacco, and forestry. The surface area devoted to vegetable plantations is 15,247 hectares with a production volume of 789 thousand tons and an estimated production value of 1,560 million yuan [246.5 million USD]. The share of early spring vegetable plantations is 9,520 hectares with a production volume of 487.6 thousand tons. About 85% of that production is sold abroad.

Panzhihua has already established the country's first base that sets an example in food safety for mango producers. Panzhihua exported more than 20 thousand tons of mangoes in 2017. They were sold in more than 10 countries. The export of early spring vegetables, however, is still new.
