Organic production rising in Ecuador

Producing organic foods - foodstuffs produced without pesticides or synthetic agrochemicals, that are monitored throughout the production chain - is on the rise all over the world. According to statistics from the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements, there are currently 172 countries where organic cultivation is taking place, out of the 198 existing countries. And Ecuador is not lagging behind.

According to an article by ecuadortimes.net, the Agency of Regulation and Control Fito and Zoosanitario indicates that organic production is practiced in 23 of the 24 provinces of the country. In addition, up until March 2017 there were 36,246 hectares and 11,529 registered organic producers.
