Increased export volume of Chinese fruit and vegetables to South Korea

Last year was the third year of the Sino-South Korean Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The Korea Rural Economic Institute shared their statistical data on January 29th. The Korean import of agricultural by-products from China last year has not increased in value since the Sino-Korean FTA was implemented, but has actually decreased. The Korean import of fruit and vegetables from China, however, has increased 12.6% in value since the Sino-Korean FTA was implemented.

The data further show that last year from January to October the import value for fruit, vegetables, processed foods and animal by-products that were produced in China greatly increased since the Sino-Korean FTA was implemented. Last year the import value of Chinese fruit and vegetables reached 634 million USD, which is an increase of 12.6% since the Sino-Korean FTA was implemented. Processed foods and animal by-products also showed an increase of 21.9% and 8% respectively.
