China: Shenzhen port intercepts large volume of Australian fruit

On January 25th, just before dawn, an employee of the Shenzhen Huanggang Office for Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine intercepted a shipment of illegally imported fruit on a small road that crossed the border. The shipment of fruit was hidden in a car with double license plates for Guangdong and Hong Kong. The shipment weighed 426.27 kg and included 150 boxes of cherry plums with a weight of 345 kg, and 140 bags of peaches with a weight of 81.27 kg.

Investigation showed that the cherry plums originated in Australia, and the peaches in New Zealand. The person who transported the fruit did not report it and was unable to provide the necessary license and quarantine documents. The employee confiscated this shipment in accordance with the law and will carry out further investigation.
