Roberto Aschenberger, Aschenberger Information Services, Brazil

“The right information will help plan your sales in advance”

“We supply reports on a weekly basis that includes export information on several fruits such as mangoes, grapes, papayas, bananas, limes, and melons. The focus is on Europe, since that’s the destination that receives the biggest volumes of Brazilian exports. It mostly includes shipments by sea, but in case of mangoes and papayas we include the air shipments as well. Our greatest concern is on quality information on a timely basis”, starts Roberto Aschenberger from Aschenberger Information Services.

The data is utilized as an additional managerial tool by all those who deal with the international market, such as in exporters, carriers, importers, forwarders and distributers. “The reports are updated weekly with previous week´s information. We have added certain countries for specific fruits. For example: in the limes reports, we include Mexican input. In case of mangoes, we include input from Ecuador and Peru. This helps to give a more complete view of the market mainly for importers, as well for exporters in all countries involved”, continues Roberto.

He explains that companies who are interested in receiving the weekly reports subscribes to the program. “The system is in English, however the information is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. While subscribing we choose the right language. Still, the information consists mainly of numbers, statistics, and graphs. For example, which volume of Brazilian limes have been exported to the port of Rotterdam.”

Users pay a yearly fee to receive the weekly reports of a certain product. “Subscriptions are made upon signing a contract. We offer a 15 days trial so companies can analyse if the reports fits their needs.”

Roberto concludes: “We supply the market with information for 11 years now. For the future we are interested in producing new fruit reports not only from Brazil but from other countries as well. What we need is to identify market necessities for us to develop new products and sources of information. Would it be avocados? From which countries? Market feedback would be extremely appreciated.”
