Surging vegetable prices in Fiji

Fijian market vendors and customers at Labasa Municipal Market have been taken aback by the sudden increase in vegetable prices. Vegetable prices have increased because of the continuous heavy rain that spoilt the budding of a lot of vegetables.

Wholesalers are now selling vegetables at higher prices.

The Fiji Times reports on market vendor Parma Nand: "Last week I ordered eggplants packed in a 50 kilogram bag and I was charged a massive amount. I used to pay 7 FJD (2.82 euros) for that same bag, but now it cost me 25 FJD (10.04 euros).”
