China: Tangerine with concealed drugs intercepted

The Qingbaijiang police have recently cracked the case of an express drug delivery. Based on their statement, express delivery personnel of the Shunfeng Express Company discovered a suspicious package during the examination of express delivery packages. Upon opening the package a few unremarkable tangerines were discovered. One of the tangerines, however, showed a crack. After inspection of this crack, an unexpected small bag of white crystals was discovered! This immediately raised the suspicions of the express delivery personnel, and it was reported to the authorities.

Qingbaijiang police investigated and recovered 0.55 gram of methamphetamine. They further tracked down a suspect based on the information of the postal package and made an arrest. The suspect had prepared this parcel for delivery in Hainan, where it would be handed over. The other party paid 300 yuan [46.55 USD] through WeChat, and the suspect bought 200 yuan [31.04 USD] of methamphetamine, which he prepared for delivery by inserting it in a tangerine. Afterwards, the express delivery personnel discovered that the package was somewhat messy and smelly, so they opened it up and only then did they discover the drugs.
