Water will be the key topic at Frutic 2018

The 11th FRUTIC International Symposium, which will be held at the CityCube Berlin on February 6, 2018, a day before the FRUIT LOGISTICA starts, will focus on the efficient use of water.

The convention will address water issues, from the specific use of accurate irrigation to increase the quality of the fruit to new sensor technology to record the state of water in fruits, and the use of water in storage and in marketing. Water plays a crucial role in quality conservation and food safety, especially in the post-harvest stage: from washing, cleaning, disinfecting and refrigerating the fruit, to hot water treatments. In addition, there will also be presentations regarding new methods and innovative concepts on how to reduce the formation of water in containers.

The presenters will also address new non-destructive methods for determining quality, specific post-harvest treatment and storage of fruits, vegetables, and nuts.

Some of the speakers that will participate in the event are: Professor Juan Jose Alarcon, from CEBAS CSIC, Spain, and Professor Merete Edelenbos, from the Aarhus University of Denmark.
