New participation to to strengthen regional organic retail

Swiss Bio Development AG acquires 38 percent of the Münster-based SuperBioMarkt AG

This year begins with a forward-looking change in the German organic food trade. Swiss Bio Development AG, Seon, acquired 38 percent of SuperBioMarkt AG, headquartered in Münster. Michael Radau, CEO of SuperBioMarkt AG, explains: "This move will enable us, together with other strong partners, to tackle the challenges of the future." Markus Lüthi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bio Development AG, adds: "This investment is another step towards strengthening regional and independent organic retail trade in Germany."

Bio Development AG is already involved in the German organic retail trade in the Berlin BIO COMPANY GmbH. Just like in Berlin, the Swiss also act as minority shareholders in Münster. "We do not want to maintain and strengthen corporate structures, but regional profiles and entrepreneurial clout. This has proven itself in Berlin and will also be successful in Münster," says Lüthi. "Bio Development AG was founded in 2009 to strengthen the independent organic food industry and provide organic companies with a sound capital base," says Chairman of the Board Markus Lüthi, explaining the Swiss strategy, to which in Germany, organic wholesaler Phönix GmbH ( Rosbach) also adheres.

"For the SuperBioMarkt AG this step is a decisive change: On the one hand, we go into the new year with strengthened capital, on the other hand, we can confidently face the future together with our suppliers and manufacturers, supported by with the other participations of Bio Development AG, such as BIO COMPANY GmbH and Phönix GmbH. Our aim is to create a real alternative to the nationally active and centrally managed organic retail trade," says Michael Radau (picture).

On an expansion course with strengthened capital
For 2018, Michael Radau announced a break-in into new markets at the same time. The market for organic products is undergoing enormous changes and competition has increased significantly. Right from the start, the SuperBioMarkt stood for high organic quality, for a partnership with farmers and producers, and for genuine sustainable interaction. "Here in the partnership with Bio Development AG, we see a great opportunity not only to preserve this idea, but to develop it further," says the CEO of SuperBioMarkt AG, Michael Radau, with a hopeful look into the future.
