Around 15,000 tons of Civg198*/Modì® were produced in 2017 in the northern hemisphere. Around 70% of these comes from Modì Europe, while the remaining 30% was grown in Turkey, Serbia and the US.
Approximately 16,500 tons were available the previous year, but frost reduced production by 10%.
Category I will be around 10 thousand tons. Demand is coming mainly from Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Scandinavia and Austria. Some extra-EU markets have also been particularly receptive, including Middle and Far East and India.
"Commercial prospects for authorised producers during the second part of the campaign are good for two reasons: quality is good and demand from leading retailers also on an international level is lively, also thanks to the fact supply is sensibly lower than last year," explains the President of the Consortium Pier Filippo Tagliani.
Modi will attend the next edition of Fruit Logistica in Berlin (7th-9th February 2018) with an international convention of all Modi International licencees (Europe, Turkey, Serbia, USA, Australia, Chile, Uruguay, New Zealand) for an update on the project and to share brand policies.
