China: Ginger price drops slightly

Ginger has become very mainstream on the consumption market. A trader explains that the ginger price recently reached between 14 and 16 yuan per kilogram. As the new ginger supply on the market is gradually increasing, the price is low. Industry experts say that, in the beginning of November last year, the supply of ginger reached a peak, and the price dropped quite fast. In the middle of November last year, after the sales pressure for stored older ginger was reduced, the ginger price quickly rose again.

According to Li Tao, analyst of SC199, the ginger price is related to storage capacity and export orders. In the future, if the storage capacity is relatively large, it will benefit the ginger market. If the resource prices from the Middle East are suitable, the foreign trade is doing well, and the consumption is peaking, the ginger price might increase somewhat. However, because last year's average temperature has been rather high, there is more ginger of inferior quality. The price for this ginger will not be very high. For quality ginger, on the other hand, the price might continue to rise.
