Australia: Summer heat looms over grapes

Australian grape growers are bracing for this weekend’s extreme temperatures, hoping to prevent damage to their crops.

Tabletop Grapes, a family business in Irymple, Victoria, has owner Elina Garreffa explaining how a single hot day could be enough to cause irreparable damage. “Hot temperatures combined with hot winds can cause a lot of stress to the vines and can give you soft berries, which have to be removed.”
