China: Shandong Yantai fruit prices continue to rise

Because of the drop in temperatures and the snowfall, the fruit prices in Yantai, Shandong, have been rising. There are two main reasons why these weather factors often lead to a rise in prices. Firstly, the market supply drops, as the weather is not good for storage. For example, after Shatangju oranges are frozen, they will rot more easily. The traders will then purchase fewer products, leading to an increase of the fruit price. Secondly, the costs will increase. Because of the weather, the costs for fruit transportation, storage and manpower will rise, also driving up the prices.
