Greencobi SAT recognised at Fruit and Veg Producers Organization

The fruit and vegetable marketer Greencobi, S.A.T. has been recognised at a Fruit and Vegetable Producers' Organization on 14 December 2017 based on Regulation (EU) 1308/2013.

Greencobi S.A.T. is based in the facilities of Frutas Escobi, S.L., in Las Norias de Daza, El Ejido. In these facilities, it has its handling centre on a rental basis. It currently has 115 producing partners who are devoted to the greenhouse cultivation of tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, cucumbers, melons and aubergines, with acreage totalling over 500 hectares. Greencobi, S.A.T. employs more than 300 people.

Greencobi S.A.T. started its activities in 1996 under the name S.A.T. Frutas Escobi, in response to the initiative of a group of producers, who believed in the need to join forces to be able to market their products together. The services offered by the entity to its members include technical assistance for production and advice to introduce improvements in the infrastructure and any activities related to the handling, packaging and marketing of the products. In 2016, it was renamed Greencobi S.A.T.

The products marketed by this entity are certified as complying with several quality protocols, which gives them access to the main EU markets. The handling and packaging warehouse also has the quality certifications required to increase the added value of the products marketed.

This Resolution of Recognition will grant them access to the Operating Funds regulated in Regulation (EU) 2017/891 and Regulation (EU) 2017/892 from 1 January 2018. These funds will be used to improve the partners' infrastructures, improve the quality of their products and implement environmentally-friendly production methods, as well as to enforce Prevention and Crisis Management measures, in case they were necessary.
