Special FMI packaging containing lime squeezer

“Limited supply has maintained lime market over the past two months”

For some time, Fruit Market International has had an attractive retail packaging for limes, including a lime squeezer, in its assortment for its customers. “It’s a way to give our clients the option of doing something fun for their customers, and besides, we try to increase the consumption of limes with this product,” says Peter Bouman.

According to Peter, the market for limes could be called good in recent weeks. “October and November are normally bad months for limes, but in the past two months, supply was much lower, resulting in good prices. More limes are now arriving on the market, also because Brazil is entering its normal season, and prices dropped a bit as a result. However, prices are still at a fair level, and I think that will last in coming weeks.”

Although Fruit Market International has limes in its assortment year-round, it’s a real spring and summer product according to Peter. “Demand recovers somewhat in December, but the most limes by far are sold between March and September. The majority of the limes still comes from Mexico and Brazil, but production countries such as Colombia are on the rise, and during the season, countries such as Peru and Guatemala are also on the market.”
