Asparagus harvesters popular at German fair

Technologies for asparagus cultivation were recently presented at the Karlsruher fair in Germany (22nd-23rd November 2017). All the most recent innovations were displayed by the manufacturers.

Bagioni has been working for a year in the asparagus harvester sector. "A lot of people attended, especially during day one. There were seven of us at the stand but we couldn't keep up with everyone," explains owner Alfiero Bagioni.

The company had organised the stand to be able to talk to German, French, English-speaking and Italian visitors. One of the most popular devices was the radio-controlled film winder.

Plastic film winding is very important in professional asparagus cultivation. Bagioni has started to test the first electronic multipurpose winder and presented it at the fair. Unlike other existing systems, this innovation makes it possible to modify and record machine movements through simple radio controls. It can also be hooked behind the tractor.

Other popular products were the Stop&Go and the Balena systems. The principle of the Stop&Go system is simple: it detects operators in the harvesting areas bringing machines into compliance with EU regulation 42/2006.

The Balena device is an accessory that makes it easier to position plastic films. The tool facilitates plastic film filling for white asparagus cultivation. It is installed on harvesters and halves filling times.

"We would like to thank all visitors who came to the stand and remind everyone that they can contact us at our headquarters in Forlì."
