Transcritical CO2 cooling system for mushrooms

The Dutch company, Huijbregts Koeltechniek, was recently assigned the task of installing a transcritical cooling system. This system, ordered by Prochamp in Velddriel, needs to have a 120 KW capacity, and will be used to keep mushrooms cool. The system will have a Danfoss regulator, equipped with electronic valves. The advantage of this piece of equipment is that it has support from Danfoss worldwide. An installer anywhere can, therefore, work on it without any problems. This is in contrast to various other systems where the customer is often bound to using a specific installer.

The use of CO2 is a completely eco-friendly solution. It has no impact on the environment, contrary to the use of synthetic coolants. Additional advantages are that the equipment still falls under EIA regulations, does not require a permit to be built, has favourable annual COP yields, and is non-toxic.
