Launch of AmazonFresh in Munich

Since yesterday, in the Munich city area, prime members of AmazonFresh can do their entire weekly shopping conveniently online, being able to choose from more than 300,000 products. Among these, customers will find a wide selection of fresh food and hundreds of selected items from Munich delicatessens and local grocers.

With AmazonFresh, customers can enjoy flexible delivery options from Monday to Saturday. In the Bavarian state capital, they can order until noon in order to receive their deliveries before dinner. If you order before 11 pm, you will receive your goods next day within a two-hour window of your choice between 8 am and 10 pm. If it is more convenient for the customer, he or she can have their goods delivered to a secure location between 5 and 10 pm, without having to receive it personally. AmazonFresh is available through Amazon.com and the Amazon app.

Customers can enter their zip code at www.amazon.de/fresh to check whether their address is within the delivery area. In Berlin and Potsdam, the service has been available to prime members since May.

Prime customers in Hamburg have been able to do their entire weekly shopping conveniently via Amazon.de since July. "Our goal is to continually improve AmazonFresh. The basis for this improvement is customer feedback and our own experiences. We're learning more and more about it in Berlin, Potsdam and Hamburg, but also in the US, UK and Japan," says Ajay Kavan, Vice President AmazonFresh. "All AmazonFresh customers should benefit from this; now the customers in Munich can as well."

"Local retailers are a very important part of AmazonFresh. We are sure that Dallmayr's delicatessen products, the mixture of spices from the Viktualienmarkt and the selections of other popular shops will be able to entice the Munich consumers," says Florian Baumgartner, Director AmazonFresh Germany. Florian Randlkofer, Managing Partner of Alois Dallmayr KG, is also pleased with this cooperation: "With AmazonFresh we can now offer our customers a completely new service. For example, customers can order our fresh delicatessen salads or smoked salmon quickly, conveniently and reliably from home or on the go via the app. They then get our top quality goods with the established reliability from Amazon; that's a real big advantage.”

AmazonFresh's offering comprises a total of over 300,000 items - including around 200,000 non-food items. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, dairy and chilled products, fresh baked goods and daily necessities, AmazonFresh offers a wide selection of kitchen implements, sports goods, games and stationery. Also available are more than 4,000 organic products, a wide selection of gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan products, a wide range of baby, health and beauty products and pet supplies.

The freshness of all foodstuffs is checked continuously. If, contrary to expectations, a product does not meet customer expectations, Amazon’s freshness guarantee will ensure that the item will be refunded. And if an ordered item in the Amazon assortment is temporarily out of stock, a free replacement product will be delivered upon availability.
