Red Fuji apple market finally looking up after two disappointing years

Sales of Red Fuji apples have not been very optimistic for the last two years. However, this year apple farmers are happy, as the apple market is doing great.

Since Red Fuji apple gardens began to bear fruits, the weather changed from drought to heavy rains. Lack of light affected crops and last harvest had more water cracks and apples had pale red skin with black dots. This year, Red Fuji apples from Yantai, Shandong province, make up 35-50% of the apple market, which is 20% lower than in previous years.

Lower Red Fuji sales over the last two years caused many Shandong farmers to phase out their gardens. Therefore, production decreased and now
Red Fuji apples are in demand on the market. Some companies even began to compete to receive good Fuji apples.

The price of Red Fuji apples remains high, which creates an interesting situation in Shandong production areas: if the farmers
can't reach an agreement with buyers during the bargaining process, they prefer to decline offers without further negotiations and keep the apples. This behaviour will lead to the situation where while the number of ground fruits reduced, price of Red Fuji apples will remain high throughout the year.
