Argentina: Garlic quality recovers after last season's problems
José Luís Ginestar, of the company Agrícola Trinidad, explains that "this year the quality of our garlic is very good, and although these last 30 days are crucial, we can say that the drought problems have been overcome and that the weather conditions are very favourable, so we are convinced that we will have a high quality harvest and a very good campaign."
"China is still a huge competitor, since they always produce a large volume of garlic, and this obviously affects us, but in any case, our main markets are Europe, mainly France and Spain, and the United States, and the export by sea to these countries will continue to be very strong."
Ginestar assures that "the prospects for this year are very good, as Argentinian garlic is very competitive given both its price and great calibre."
He also says that "at the moment, we do not expect exports to new markets besides those where we are already consolidated, but this may be because we have not yet started the season, so we cannot rule out any new negotiations."
