Storage capacity of 40,000 pallets

Start of Construction at Kloosterboer Lelystad

On Wednesday 18 October the first stone was officially laid for the construction of the new cold store of Kloosterboer Lelystad. The new, fully automatic cold store will have a storage capacity of 40,000 pallets, and should be operational in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The new state-of-the-art, fully automatic cold store is built according to the latest technologies, and will use 50 per cent less energy than a conventional cold store. This is equal to a reduction of 1,551 tonnes of CO2 per year. The new location offers McCain, as launching customer, a total solution due to the centralisation of Northern European stocks, which were previously divided over four locations. This decrease of about 6,000 transports and 420,000 kilometres results in a decrease of about 386 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

With the arrival of Kloosterboer, Lelystad has taken another step forward and continues to grow into its role as an appealing business location and logistical hot spot within the Netherlands.
