Wilkofruit started the Hicaz pomegranate season on October 11. Wilko van der Zwaard is optimistic about the start of the season. "We have them in full availability in the sizes 7, 9 and 12, packaged in 5 kilo. The prospects are good. The quality of the pomegranates is very good. There is sufficient demand from wholesalers and supermarkets. We also had a label developed to better inform the consumer of the product. In particular in the areas of healthy nutrients and flavour."
"The weather conditions were very good in the run up to the season, which means they have a beautiful colour. Due to the high brix and a juice level of around 48-50% they are delicious. Add to this that they're full of antioxidants, three times as much as red wine, green tea or cranberries for example, and it wouldn't be wrong to say that this delicious fruit belongs in every fruit bowl," concludes Wilko.
