Turkey will see a shortage of lemons

The lemon season in Turkey has just started. According to Gokhan Soylu of Soylu Gida, Turkey, the lemon season usually starts in September and ends in June. Soylu recently started their season for Meyer lemons and have already noticed a few things.

Soylu explains that this year they will experience a shortage in the number of lemons, but the quality will be much higher than last year’s. “The thing about our lemons is we produce them in high quality. We make sure they are safe, meaning no pesticide problems – in order to meeting European standards.

Prices are same as last week and Turkey doubled the volume of export in comparison to 10-15 years ago, with help from an increase in consumption.

"Our quality opens up various markets to us such as Eastern Europe, Western Europe, the Middle East and even the Far East," says Soylu.
