China: Late season Fuji apples delayed

Under the influence of the recent rains, the Fuji apples from the Luochuan production area are not selling in large quantities. Not many apples (around 30%) have the right red colour. These small amounts are sent to the markets of Guangdong and other markets in the South. The Fuji apples from Xianyang, sold in paper bags, are already entering the mid-season of trading. The sales volumes on the market are considerably larger, but the price is slightly lower than it was before. The buying activity of the customers is still agreeable and the volumes of apples that are traded are stable, basically priced according to quality. The Fuji apples produced in Xunyi have coloured red for 50%. Customers from Anhui, Henan, Shandong and other places all go to this production region to buy their apples.
