China: Chili, an exported product that is increasingly more popular
Chili is one of the most consumed spices worldwide and until recently only a few countries were strong enough to offer it internationally. However, China is starting to consolidate this crop and to consider it another important export product. "Our company started in 2013 and has grown rapidly since then. This spice is one of our main products," stated Amy Xie, business manager of Qingdao Justar International Trade.
China has been slowly promoting its chili production. It is already known in several European and African countries, as well as in North America. "In our case, we export 100% of the production of our associated farmers." Thus, setting a price is complicated, because many factors affect it. "The quality, the form in which it is commercialized, the destination and the time of the year," are some outstanding factors.
