Chinese imports of Egyptian oranges increase dramatically

"Because of their unique characteristics, the supply of imported oranges from South Africa and Egypt on the Chinese market has not met the demand for the past few years. The Chinese demand for imported oranges has been steadily increasing, and the demand from the middle and western areas is the biggest. Simultaneously, the price increase in the production areas has raised the price on the Chinese market as well, but because the market supply is so big, the price can only increase so much. That is why the demand for high quality products is now even bigger. This year, we have seen that the supply of Egyptian produce has increased by at least 20% compared to last year, but the costs are also higher. In order to have strict controls on our prices, we keep in close contact with farmers, processing facilities and exporters, and focus on the production environment and industry. For both exporters and farmers, we arrange visits for control experts to the production areas to check the product quality. We currently mostly sell our imported fruit through traditional sales channels to distributors in first and second tier cities in China. We also sell to supermarkets and online customers. In the future, we hope to have the opportunity to partner up with even more purchasers in first and second tier cities, so that we can bring our excellent fruit to more consumers."
