Peru lands business deals worth $138m at Asia Fruit Logistica

The Peruvian delegation, made up of 70 companies in the fruit and vegetable sector, returned from Asia Fruit Logistica 2017 with a total of US$138m in sales orders, according to official sources from the Peru Promotional Committee for Exports and Tourism, PROMPERÚ.

Some of the most popular products were cranberries, avocados, citrus fruits, mangos, bananas, pomegranates, asparagus, ginger, prepared quinoa and frozen fruit.

The event provided a showcase for the Super Foods Peru brand in Asia, an official ceremony that was held in the emblematic Sky 100 building. The event was also the venue chosen to announce the opening of the new Peru trade office in Hong Kong, which will take place in the last quarter of 2017. This new opening looks to strengthen the commercial presence that Peru already enjoys in China with offices in Shanghai and Beijing.

The visit by Peruvian professionals to the Asian trade fair also served to undertake market research in the agricultural sector in Hong Kong, one of the leading gateways for fresh produce for the whole continent.

Peruvian exporters not only had the chance to visit the Western Wholesale Market, a hugely important imported fruit market which already has a dedicated area for Peruvian produce, demand for which is constantly growing in Asia, but also visited the cold storage facility at Lantau Airport to get a first-hand look at how the systems used in their innovative installations work.
