Fall in Chinese kiwifruit production volumes

It's the middle of the kiwi season and in Pujiang, Cangxi and Dujiangyan counties in Sichuan Province, large volumes of kiwi fruits are ready for the market. This year, kiwi production increased by 20%. Pujiang county in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is situated at 30 degrees North latitude, which makes it perfect from the ecological perspective. The region is very special and it is possible to grow kiwifruits of three colors there: red, green and yellow. Only a few areas in the world have this unique opportunity.

Golden kiwis are a Pujiang county speciality but production decreased after the July and August drought. However, after the dry weather was over, the rest of August was rainy enough and golden kiwis got ample nourishment. As a result, kiwi yields increased by 20% compared to previous years.

In contrast, prices are lower than they were last year. There are many reasons for this. The main one is this year's overproduction. Kiwi production rates rose all over China. Kiwi supply is still growing, and rainy weather continues to affect the situation.
