SweeTango Europe Group founded

On August 8th, 2017, the SweeTango Europe Group (STEG) was founded in Langenthal (CH), in the presence of the grower David Bedford (USA). Founding members are DOSK (D), Geiser agro.com (CH), Fa. Kröpfl (A) and Melinda (I).

With this, they hit an important milestone for the coordinated expansion and the marketing of SweeTango in Europe. They appointed Peter Bracher, CEO of Geiser agro.com as president of STEG. Geiser had already started the expansion of SweeTango® in 2013, and was able to establish the brand in the premium sector. "We are happy about this merger of innovative European producers and marketers of SweeTango. This is an important step towards the successful future of SweeTango in Europe," Peter Bracher emphasizes. Jürg Burri has been appointed coordinator of the SweeTango Europe Group. His scope of duties includes all activities relating to a successful introduction to the market for this special apple variety. The apple marketers VI.P and VOG (I), as well as Nufri (SP) will be joining STEG as new members.

"We are convinced that this apple variety with its special features will open up new market segments," the members agreed. Tastings are showing that consumers recognize the brand and first sales show high demand for SweeTango. "We are opening the market with SweeTango and we are offering our customers a new taste sensation."

SweeTango - the apple...
... is a creation by David Bedford from the University of Minnesota in the U.S., a combination of Honeycrisp and Zestar. The bright red colour and the unusual texture of the pulp are what makes this variety so recognizable. SweeTango® is productive and has a great sugar-acidity ratio. It is an early variety which is highly recognizable due to its unmistakable taste and the unique bite-experience, which will win over many customers.
